Being a club press officer can be a lot of hard work, a lot of which is never seen and appreciated.
Indeed, most of the time, you only get noticed if you miss something or make a complete screw-up, and I’m no stranger to that!
However, this last month has been different. As well as the run-of-the-mill normal shizzle, match previews and reports, news items etc., I have so enjoyed posting news about a young player destined to have a future in the game…
Jamal Lowe, formerly of Barnet, St Albans and Hemel Hempstead Town, will soon be following his dream.
Released by all the above, he arrived on loan at Hampton & Richmond from the Tudors during October last year and promptly earned himself a deal at the club as the side moved into contention for the Ryman Premier title.
The fact the Beavers won the title is in no small part to Jamal’s exciting play, terrorising defences and scoring goals.
He could’ve left in the summer but chose to stay in TW12; and why wouldn’t you when you’re enjoying the game and the fans love you?
His displays this season have been even more impressive and in all competitions, he’s got at last count, 18 goals already.
This brought the scouts out in droves and also the England C manager, Chris Fairclough.
Lowe was called up to the Contingency squad and it looks like he’ll be going to Estonia and pull on those 3 Lions.
In addition, he’s earned a move to League 2 Portsmouth, thus fulfilling his childhood dream.
To cap it all, he’s just been given the League’s player of the month award for October for the National League South.
What now for the likeable young player?? One things for sure, wherever he ends up, he’ll have earned it!
